Looking Forward

31 Dec

Now that this year is drawing to a close, one tends to look back at what took place in these last twelve months. But while you are thinking back of all of the good things that have happened and the blessing that the Lord has given you, do not neglect the trials, challenges and failures that you’ve experienced. The Lord gives and takes away.  We must be willing to look back to see where we tried to take over what His plan was, where we tried to handle our situations by ourselves instead of giving them over to the King, where we thought that we knew our timing better than God. He teaches us through these moments. Earthly failures, when we tried to go it alone, can be great victories for the Lord because we learn that He is the only one who can get us through this life. When we learn to first go to Him with our worries and cares we glorify and worship Him. It is much easier said than done but part of humbling ourselves before the cross is admitting to the Lord when we were proud, selfish, and disobedient. He will never leave or forsake us, even when we make mistakes, it’s how He grows us. To look forward, we must look back, so while you look back ask yourself these questions:

  1. When you were faced with trials, did you turn firstly to the Lord and His word?
  2. When you did make mistakes did you repent and make a solid effort to change and remove that sin in your life?
  3. How did God bless you this year? How did you bless Him?

Now that you have meditated a bit on this past year, look forward to this upcoming year. I challenge myself, and any of you, to make a difference for His kingdom.

  1. Study His word, but not out of obligation, but with a child like enthusiasm. Be hungry for His word and He will bless you through it.
  2. Serve Him and others. Get out of your comfort zone! Jesus was beaten, tormented, and crucified to give us new life, the least we can do is spread His love by talking to a few people about His redeeming grace.
  3. Tithe! It is a huge blessing to help a ministry whose will is to spread His fame! The Lord knows our financial situations and will always provide enough for us to give. All belongs to Him and all is a gift from Him!

He has a will for each of our lives. Ask Him what yours is specifically, but in the meantime know that we are here first and foremost to worship Him in all that we do. Never lose sight of our purpose! This year, strive to worship Him fully, love Him with everything, and disappear into His glory!

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Week One

30 Dec

The Lord is challenging me to read through His word in its entirety this next year! I am personally very excited to get started on January 1st! The reading for January 1st through the 7th is as follows:

1/1: Gen. 1,2 and Matt. 1

1/2: Gen. 3,4,5 and Matt. 2

1/3: Gen. 6,7,8 and Matt. 3

1/4: Gen. 9,10,11 and Matt. 4

1/5: Gen. 12,13,14 and Matt. 5:1-26

1/6: Gen. 15,16,17 and Matt. 5:27-48

1/7: Gen. 18,19 and Matt. 6

My suggestion is to break these readings into a morning and an evening study. If the majority of your free time is in the afternoon, then I would suggest reading the Old Testament portions then and reading the New Testament in the morning. Which ever method is best for you is what I would suggest you follow. Good Luck!

Intentions

30 Dec

I would like to start by stating the intentions of this blog. This blog is merely a tool to grow and challenge my faith, relationship, and worship of Jesus Christ. The Lord has put this blog on my heart and I hope that it will at the very least be a fruitful encouragement to my brothers and sisters in Christ who may stumble across it. If any unbelievers feel moved to follow this blog and ask questions about my faith I would be more than happy to share the Gospel and pray for anyone who needs it.

I am a bondservant to Jesus Christ. He is my rock, my salvation, my friend, my love, and my hearts desire is to follow and serve Him. I will fear no thorn or snare that the enemy throws my way because Christ is my light and my salvation. His loves is unfailing and conquers all.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
